Moderate Underperformance - What causes a 'Moderate Underperformance' issue?

A ‘Moderate Underperformance’ issue appears when your solar energy system is performing fairly lower than expected.

Often, it is caused a temporary event unique to the site and in this case the alert should resolve on its own in the next few days. There is no need to be concerned unless the event persists. Some causes of this behaviour could be:

• Temporary shading of panels (e.g. a branch has blown onto the roof in winds then blows off again)
• Brief over-voltage in the electricity grid
• Extremely variable weather data causing our algorithm to be slightly off

If the issue is still persisting after 7 days we will inform you via email and on the dashboard. It may be caused by one of the following more concerning issues:

• Incorrect solar energy system details registered on the dashboard
• Minor wiring issue on the monitoring device (please ignore this on an Inverter API integration site)
• Actual system fault
• Grid over-voltage (i.e here for more information)
• New permanent shading (e.g. new house next door) or seasonal shading
• System design faults
• Export limited regulations (in some areas, network regulators do enforce the amount of energy that can be exported back to the grid)
• Dirty panels (less likely to be the cause)

Other causes of performance issues to consider:

• Time. Our algorithm requires at least 24 hours of data to calculate an accurate performance value.
• Outliers. In the event that there is only one day of under-performance sandwiched between consistently well-performing days the cause it most likely a discrepancy between the weather data received from The Bureau of Meteorology and the true weather conditions and can be disregarded.
