Solar Analytics' Classic: Install & Commission

Solar Analytics’ Classic: Install & Commission

Section titled “Solar Analytics’ Classic: Install & Commission”

Our advice for the best steps to take before and during installation for a smooth commissioning process.

Please note that we will no longer be accepting new WW registrations from 1 July 2026, with the WW service being fully retired and no longer available for new registrations effective 30 September 2026; however, existing Wattwatcher integrated sites will continue to be able to renew their subscriptions as normal.

1.1 Know the subscription type and the site needs.

Section titled “1.1 Know the subscription type and the site needs.”

At the time of sales, you should probably have discussed with and determined from the end-user these points:

  1. Site hardware needs and which circuits are to be monitored
  2. The subscription type chosen by the end user

See Wattwatchers with Solar Analytics for more information on available hardware options and subscription packages through our support centre here.

1.2 Installer access to Solar Analytics Dashboard

Section titled “1.2 Installer access to Solar Analytics Dashboard”

For a smooth installation process the installer will need to access Solar Analytics from their phone or tablet.

If your installer does not have access to the dashboard you can create an account for them. This link will detail the procedure to create new accounts for team members.

Giving your installer access to the dashboard is essential as it is best practice for the hardware registration to be completed on site. The install check integrated in the registration process aims to verify if the wiring is correct.

This tool will run different checks (signal, voltage, loads, power factor and wiring) that will alert the installer if something is wrong. Some checks will require the installer to turn on loads or turn off the inverter therefore the registration cannot be completed from the office.

We strongly recommend the installer to bring aclamp meter and spare external antenna in case there are issues with the installation or connectivity. If the installer needs to call our support team, our engineers might need them to swap the device or the CTs in case they are faulty.

A clamp meter will come in handy as it will allow us to check if the current readings are matching with the data sent by the Wattwatchers device.

While installing the hardware, there are several things to keep in mind, including:

  1. Ensure that the hardware is the appropriate size.
  2. Be sure you record the hardware serial number and the CT’s channel name on the provided CT naming diagram during the installation, and take a photo for your records.
  3. Attach the device serial number sticker to the front of the device for reference.
  4. Use a dedicated circuit breaker (i.e current rating <16A) to power the device. Avoid using the solar supply main switch.

Once the device is installed, the installer will just have to log in to the dashboard > click on ‘My Site List’ > go to the ‘Pending’ tab > look for the pre-registered site > enter the device serial number and run the checks

This new system built in the registration process automates a number of diagnostic checks with the aim of speeding up install time and providing more feedback on problems while the installer is on site, saving time and money.

The installer will have to enter the serial number of the device and configure each channel.

If the install check is successful, the installer will be able to keep going and finish the registration.

If the install check fails, here are the procedures to follow for each step failure.

If the install check is successful, the installer will have to select the appropriate subscription for the site and click finish. The end-user will be automatically invited via their email address to access their site dashboard.
